An introduction to Lake District Photo Gallery Two

This is my second Lake District photo gallery on Snap the Lakes. In part the gallery features my walk from Thirlmere Dam to Raven Crag returning via Castle Crag Fort, Shoulthwaite Gill and around the rocky side of The Benn. Wainwright describes the walk through the forest to the top of Raven Crag as oppressive. I did the walk on a hot spring day and found the forest delightfully cool and peaceful. The view from the top stretches out along Thirlmere to Helvellyn Lower Man and beyond to Steel Fell.

Each year I would stay at the excellent Castlerigg Hall Caravan & Camping Park. You would think after a day walking the fells that I would be content to put my feet up, relax and watch the sun go down but no! I would walk down to the boat landings at Keswick and join other photographers attracted by the lovely light over Derwentwater trying to get that perfect shot. There are a couple of photos in this gallery taken at dusk looking over Derwentwater and some in my other Lake District Gallery. I hope you enjoy viewing my Lake District photos as much as I enjoyed taking them.
