Lake District Walks

Lake District Walks illustrated with Maps and Photographs

This is the first of an occasional series of walks in the Lake District.

16 Mile Circular Walk from Keswick

A 16 mile circular walk from Keswick starting from the boat landings on Derwentwater. The walk climbs to Walla Crag with it’s impressive views over Derwentwater. The walk then descends to Ashness Bridge and onto Surprise View with it’s sheer drop and views down to Lodore. The walk continues to Watendlath with it’s beautiful tarn. The walk then follows a rugged packhorse route to Rosthwaite. We continue alongside the River Derwent and through the Jaws of Borrowdale. Flanked by Castle Crag and King’s How the walk continues to Grange. From Grange we follow a quiet lane to Manesty where we join the path down to the banks of Derwentwater. The walk continues alongside Derwentwater to Portinscale and back to Keswick.
