Vivien & Geoff started climbing the 2000' mountains of England with Catstye Cam and ended with a roped ascent of Pillar Rock in 1995. After climbing the mountains of Wales, they returned to visit the remaining Wainwright tops which were completed on Hard Knott in 1997

Vivien & Geoff often backback in the Lakes, even at this time of year! 'The Lake District has given us some glorious days with breathtaking views, especially in winter.  One of the many advantages of backpacking in the mountains is that we can be on the summits around dawn and dusk, when the angle and colour of the light is often very conducive to atmospheric photos.'

The gallery photos were taken on day walks with their old SLR camera and scanned, but now, as backpackers, they prefer to use a  digital compact to minimise weight. They are now looking forward to obtaining some winter panorama photos of the Lake District peaks.

Vivien & Geoff use a Canon Digital Ixus 330. 'Despite our apprehension about the compact technology, this has proved to be an extremely successful strategy, and viewing the photos on a large screen at home is a great  inspiration on dull rainy days.'

Thanks go to Vivien & Geoff for allowing us to feature their photographs in the gallery, take a look at their web site:- v-g Walking and backpacking in Britain
