Paul is married with two daughters (14 & 7), he lives in Widnes, Cheshire and is employed as a computer field service engineer. He first visited The Lakes in 1988 on a family day trip to Windermere and Ambleside and I immediately fell in love with the place.

More trips followed and he became increasingly fascinated by all the people wandering around in walking gear, I ransacked the local library for all the walking books I could find.

Paul says 'Bob Allen's book "On High Lakeland Fells" was a particular influence and, after reading it several times, I decided that I too would like to climb a "mountain". After twisting my brother-in-law's arm somewhat to come with me I finally ventured into the hills in May 1990 and made my first ascent of a Lakeland (or indeed any) hill. We climbed High Street from Mardale Head, it was a warm, sunny day and the views were terrific. From that moment I was hooked'.

Paul has climbed all the hills of Lakeland but his enthusiasm is still strong. He manages at least two walks a month, together with the odd long weekend or week's stay. His photos are taken using a Sony Digital Mavica FD85 which he's been using for a couple of years.

Thanks go to Paul for allowing us to feature his photographs in the gallery, take a look at his web site:- Paul's Lake District Photos.
