John was a keen rock climber in his teens and 20's he had several seasons climbing in the Alps in the Zermatt, Chamonix and Grindlewald regions. He no longer climbs, but still ski's every year and loves walking the Lake District - especially in winter conditions.

In 1998 he spent 2 weeks in the Taurus Mountains of Turkey - 'wonderful walking and a must for nature lovers - tortoises in the valleys and wild flowers everywhere'.

Here's a few of Johns favourite things
Favourite Mountain - Helvellyn - I can walk it from my door!
Favourite Walk - Blencathra via Sharp Edge - descending via Halls Fell Ridge.
Favourite Summit - Pike o' Stickle.
Favourite View - Derwent fells from Skiddaw Little Man. Favourite walking area apart from the Lakes - Arran.

John took the photographs with a Fuji 2.3 megapixel 2700, he say's 'it had no optical zoom and has now been replaced with a 5 megapixel Cannon G5'.
