Gerry descending Skiddaw

Gerry descending Skiddaw during the Skiddaw Fell Race.

Gerry only got to know the Lake District in fairly recent years. His first visit was in 1993 when he completed the Three Shires Fell Race. He's been coming back regularly ever since – running, walking or just enjoying himself browsing around the towns and villages.

Since 1993 Gerry has run many more races but he also returns for weekends with his wife, Kath or walking expeditions with his  mate, Des Harbottle who he introduced to the Lakes.

Rostwaite to Grange Path

The path between Rosthwaite and Grange.

He enjoys stopping at the Coledale Inn in Braithwaite – "even more I enjoy the Yates' Bitter they sell there". Borrowdale is Gerry's favourite valley – "it has its own micro climate - I like to photograph the Lakes in its different moods and don't even mind the rain".

Gerry lives in Garforth, near Leeds and had four children – most of whom have flown the nest. He works as a Graphic Designer and has always been interested in photography – "my Kodak DC4800 has added a new dimension. I like the instant pictures and often go for a run with the camera in my bumbag – you can get some really good light first thing in the morning!"

Thanks go to Gerry for allowing us to feature their photographs in the gallery.

If you would like to submit some of your photographs and can write a few lines about yourself, then let's hear from you.
