Lake District Visitor Gallery

The visitor gallery is where we feature the work of other Lake District photographers.  You do not need to be an experienced photographer, if you have taken some great photographs of the Lake District, then contact submissions now!

The Visitor Gallery features the photographs of Andrew Leaney. I'm sure if you are a fan of the Lake District then you will already know of Andrew. More of his photographs can be found on his excellent website.

Andrew first visited the Lake District while studying at Lancaster University with the mountaineering club. These trips were for rock and ice climbing and more often than not a tea shop or pub.

After living in the south east for 10 years during which time he competed in orienteering events around the country and mountain marathons he moved back to Lancaster in 2001. The move was during the foot and mouth outbreak and it wasn't until the late summer that he got back onto the fells. He now walks in the Lakes most weekends with his wife Anne. In March 2002 they finished their round of Wainwrights on Helm Crag.

Andrew says "For me it's the shear variety of terrain in the Lakes which makes it so magical. There is always a new view to see, a new route to discover, different weather to experience. I'll never get bored of the Lakes."

Andrew purchased a Canon Digital IXUS 300 in September 2001 and since then has not stopped taking photographs while out fellwalking. He will take up to 200 shots on a single walk and publishes the best ones on his website.
